TWO WORLDS

19. July 2019

The series of glass cloches was made by DETESK for the bachelor’s thesis of Pavlína Adášková, a student of Metal and Jewelry Design at the Faculty of Design and Art in Plzeň. The cloches are an important and main element of the boxes for jewelry that were part of the assignment.

The work itself consists of a set of five wearable necklaces and three jewelry/objects on the border of wearability, where the clash between human imagination and the real world is shown. Imagination is represented by amorphous colored shapes, and the real world by conventional costume jewelry.

The glass cloches (with an amorphous base) protect the imagination, while at the same time allowing a glimpse. They evoke the feeling of the vulnerability and fragility of imagination.

Abstract of the work TWO WORLDS

The work consists of a set of five wearable necklaces and three jewelry/objects on the border of wearability, where I show the clash between imagination and the real world. These are amorphous shapes made from different materials and colors, linked with conventional costume jewelry (reality). The theme of Beauty around us and within us perfectly encapsulates this work. The beauty around us is represented by nature, which is for me the perfect beauty and has become my most important source of inspiration. And the beauty within us is our imagination. My goal is to connect these two worlds by materializing abstract imagination through amorphous form language, inspired by nature (mainly sea corals). The underwater world is very colorful, yet hidden and mysterious, just like our imagination. I wanted to express diversity through various casting materials, where I focused mainly on the haptic experience. In all the jewelry/objects, there is a constant clash of two worlds: human imagination and reality, which takes place more or less in each of us.
It is up to us how we approach this fact and whether we allow imagination to flow freely and without limits into everyday reality, eventually reaching an ideal state of symbiosis.
