The term paper(final thesis) for UJEP
20. September 2019
For the students of the Faculty of Art and Design at the University of Jan Evangelista Purkyně in Ústí nad Labem, Anna Toušková and Eliška Brzáková, two challenging glass objects were created at the company Detesk - a shelter for insects and a flowerpot serving as a composter. These new objects, made of borosilicate glass, combine design and function. Both glass objects were also showcased at this year's Designblok.

Composting is one of the important aspects of today's world, which in the past was a part of everyday life. It is a flowerpot that hides a composter within. The curved shape reflects the growth of plants, at the core of which fertilizer is created, allowing the plants to grow healthily. The composter is intended for people who do not have the possibility to grow plants in their gardens. For this reason, the composter is designed for interior placement. The main material chosen for the production of the composter is technical glass. The composter was created in collaboration with the company Detesk.

The insect house is designed for nature, as part of gardens, where it serves as an artificial shelter for beneficial insect species. It can also be used for storing eggs and the subsequent development of larvae, from which the shape of the insect shelter itself emerges. The outer shell of the house is made of glass, beech, and spruce wood.
The filling is made of natural materials, which become an integral part of these shelters. The production of the glass house took place in collaboration with the company Detesk in Železný Brod.
