Glass Town 2019 at Detesk on the Square and in Poříčí
19. September 2019
The traditional Železný Brod event, recalling the local famous glassmaking history and mapping the present, took place this year on Saturday, September 14, and Sunday, September 15.
The public's interest was once again substantial.
During the two days, our multipurpose building in the town square welcomed the usual 2000 visitors.
They bought gifts in the shop, wine in the wine shop, eagerly explored the ever-expanding collection of Železný Brod artistic glass in our museum, and the exhibition of glass artist and engraver Jiří Tesař in the gallery also drew significant attention.
We also prepared a program in the completely renovated and expanded building on Poříčí. In the presence of special guests, the costly renovated stained-glass windows were presented. Apart from the interior tour, largely transformed from administrative to production spaces, the program included demonstrations of glassmaking, where children, with the help of experienced workers, tried glassblowing and then decorating the products. A rich selection of refreshments was also available.
The building was open only on Saturday, and how many visitors came for the tour? Exactly a thousand.
As part of Glass Town, Detesk was also present at other locations.
At the glass school, we exhibited a large, sophisticated, and contemporary glass home composter. As part of the Summer Glass Workshop, Detesk participated in the creation of jewelry by the artist Jan Hásek.
