GLASS TOWN 2021 and DETESK
15. October 2021
This year, we decided to approach the Železný Brod celebrations of the glassmaking craft in a grand manner. Not only was the multipurpose building of the company in the square opened, but also the social spaces of our building on Poříčí. However, Detesk's activities within the celebrations did not end there.
Glass Town at DETESK
At the DETESK gallery, an exhibition featuring glass artists Jan Štohanzl, Jaromír Rybák, and Petr Hora, titled GLASSMATES II, was held.
As usual, the high-quality works in the collection of artistic creations by prominent glass artists displayed in the DETESK museum attracted significant attention. Many visitors were pleased with a gift purchased from our shop. This year, the wine shop was also in operation, and many guests of Glass Town took the opportunity to enjoy a glass of fine wine near the gallery and museum.
Our building on Poříčí was open to the public for both days. In its social spaces, we displayed an exhibition showcasing the development of DETESK from its founding in 1990 to the present. Visitors admired the exceptional stained glass works by Svatopluk Kasalý, and a retail section was available, which is normally reserved for our wholesale partners. The food and drink offering included not only various beverages but also the opportunity to taste handmade original Italian pasta, which our company successfully imports. On Saturday afternoon, a presentation of the Celtic musical instrument KARNYX was held. This time, it was made entirely from borosilicate glass rather than traditional metal materials.
DETESK and the Summer Glass Workshop
DETESK's activities related to Glass Town were not limited to just our facilities. A significant part of the celebrations for the past ten years has been the glass symposium called the Summer Glass Workshop (LSD). The event is organized by the City(Town) Museum in collaboration with the glass school, and since 2018, DETESK has been a key partner. DETESK provides the operational support to one of the participants, and this year, it was used by artist Martin J. Pouzar. The exhibition of works created during the LSD was opened at the City Museum with the traditional Saturday vernissage. Another exhibition at the Vlastimil Rada Municipal Gallery showcased the ten-year history of the successful symposium.
DETESK and the Glass School
DETESK played an essential role in the events at the glass school. With a large turnout of visitors, the final version of the unique Celtic musical instrument KARNYX was presented to the public on Saturday at 11:00 in the school's exhibition hall, not only physically, but acoustically as well. The KARNYX, made of borosilicate glass in DETESK's workshops, was played by Ondřej Glogar, a specialist in wind instruments. As in previous years, DETESK also participated in the traditional Glass Fair organized by the school.
